Two Medical Shops Shut in Ganderbal as Drug Control Conducts Inspection Drive in Sonamarg Kullan Areas

Ganderbal May 06,2026 :- In a decisive move to ensure strict adherence to pharmaceutical regulations, the Drug Control Department Ganderbal, in coordination with the Police Station Sonamarg, conducted a comprehensive inspection drive across the Kullan and Sonamarg areas under the aegis of NMBA@100.

During the operation, a total of 11 medical shops were thoroughly inspected to verify compliance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and the rules framed thereunder.

Officials scrutinized records, stock management, and dispensing practices to ensure that all establishments were operating within the legal framework.Out of the inspected units, two medical shops were found violating regulatory norms.

Acting promptly, the authorities ordered their immediate closure on the spot, sending a strong message against non-compliance and negligence in the handling of medicines.Alongside enforcement, the team also focused on awareness and capacity building.

An interactive awareness programme was आयोजित for local chemists, where they were sensitized about the importance of maintaining proper records, adhering to licensing conditions, and ensuring responsible dispensing of medicines, particularly those prone to misuse.

Special emphasis was laid on the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, highlighting the critical role of pharmacists in curbing drug abuse by preventing unauthorized sale of controlled substances.

Officials also stressed the importance of safe and scientific disposal of biomedical waste in accordance with prescribed guidelines to protect public health and the environment.

The authorities reiterated their commitment to continue such drives in the future to safeguard public health and ensure accountability within the pharmaceutical sector.
