Jammu Municipal Corporation Launches Intensive Pond Restoration Drive at Bantalab

Jammu, May 3, 2026 :- The Jammu Municipal Corporation organized an extensive sanitation and restoration drive at a local pond in Bantalab to preserve the city’s water bodies.

Led by Sham Lal Sharma and Devansh Yadav, the initiative focused on removing accumulated waste, silt, and debris from the water and its surroundings. The campaign saw significant involvement from local residents, volunteers, and members of Disha NGO, reflecting a collaborative effort to improve the ecological health of urban water resources.

This drive is part of a continuous strategy to rejuvenate natural assets and enhance environmental conditions across Jammu.During the event, Sham Lal Sharma highlighted that water bodies are vital ecological assets that require consistent community protection to prevent pollution.

To ensure the long-term upkeep of the site, he announced the formation of a local committee that will work with residents to monitor sanitation and prevent future contamination. He noted that without active public participation, maintaining these resources becomes increasingly difficult, making collective ownership essential for environmental sustainability.

Commissioner Devansh Yadav emphasized that behavioral change at the grassroots level is the only way to achieve lasting cleanliness. He urged citizens to stop disposing of plastics and garbage in ponds or drains and instead adopt responsible waste management habits.

By treating the city’s hygiene as a civic duty, residents can help safeguard public health and natural resources. The Jammu Municipal Corporation plans to continue these field-level interventions and awareness campaigns to build a cleaner and more sustainable urban environment through citizen-led initiatives.
