Srinagar Principal Census Officer Urges Residents to Complete Digital Self Enumeration

Srinagar, May 3, 2026 :- The Office of the Principal Census Officer for Urban Srinagar has issued a public appeal for residents to participate in the self-enumeration phase of Census 2027.

Scheduled to take place from May 17 to May 31, 2027, this initiative represents a transition toward a digitally enabled and citizen-friendly census system. By allowing residents to submit their household and demographic details independently through an online platform, the government aims to improve data accuracy while reducing the need for manual collection.

Officials stressed that full participation is essential for creating a reliable statistical foundation that will guide future regional development and urban planning.Residents are encouraged to provide truthful and complete information via the official portal within the specified timeframe.

Once the data is submitted, users will receive a unique Self-Enumeration ID, which must be saved securely for the upcoming verification stage. To ensure the integrity of the collected information, designated census enumerators will conduct field visits following the digital phase.

During these visits, households will need to present their unique IDs to the staff, and the public is requested to cooperate fully with officials to finalize the records.This census exercise serves as a critical tool for governance, influencing policy formulation, the delivery of welfare schemes, and the equitable distribution of resources.

To assist citizens with the process, a 24-hour control room has been established to handle technical queries and provide clarifications.

The administration has called on every household to view this process as a civic responsibility, noting that active participation is vital for shaping infrastructure and public services that will impact the community for years to come.
