Udhampur Residents and Government Employees Urged to Install Rooftop Solar Under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

UDHAMPUR, April 24, 2026:-The Executive Engineer of JPDCL Udhampur, Arun Gupta, has issued a public appeal to all government employees and citizens of the district to adopt Rooftop Solar (RTS) systems this summer under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.

This central government initiative offers a substantial financial incentive, allowing residents to avail themselves of a subsidy reaching up to ₹94,700. Beyond the immediate financial benefits, the scheme is designed to promote clean energy and significantly reduce or entirely eliminate monthly electricity expenses for households.

The program has already seen successful implementation in the region, with over 830 electricity consumers in Udhampur having installed solar systems to date, and more than 666 applicants already receiving their subsidies directly into their bank accounts.

Authorities have emphasized that the scheme is available for a limited time only. Interested individuals are encouraged to apply through the official online portal or seek technical assistance at the nearest subdivision offices located in Udhampur, Ramnagar, and Chenani to facilitate a smooth installation process.
