UDHAMPUR, April 15, 2026: The historic Devika Baisakhi Mela continued to draw massive crowds on its second day, as the sacred banks of the Devika rivulet transformed into a hub of spiritual and cultural activity.

Thousands of devotees from across the region arrived at the Holy Ghat to participate in the age-old tradition of taking a ritual dip in the sacred waters, seeking blessings during this auspicious festival.

The atmosphere was further electrified by a mega cultural program organized by the District Centre of the Department of Information and Public Relations, featuring a series of scintillating performances that showcased the vibrant Dogri heritage.

A key highlight of the day was a powerful theme-based *Nukkad Natak* (street play) performed by students of KC Gurukul Public School, which focused on the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” to raise awareness against drug abuse.

The festival grounds were abuzz with energy as local artists and students mesmerized the audience with traditional folk music and dances, earning thunderous applause from the gathered spectators.

Beyond the spiritual and artistic offerings, the mela provided a lively experience for families, with temporary stalls selling sweets, traditional toys, and various accessories seeing a heavy footfall throughout the day.

The successful integration of religious devotion, cultural preservation, and social messaging has made this year’s Devika Baisakhi Mela a standout event, reinforcing Udhampur’s position as a guardian of regional traditions.

Local authorities noted that the enthusiastic participation of the youth and the high influx of visitors from neighboring districts have contributed significantly to the festive spirit and success of the celebration.
