Amritsar Police Dismantle Cross-Border Arms Smuggling Ring; Three Arrested

AMRITSAR, April 14, 2026 — The Amritsar Commissionerate Police has successfully intercepted an illegal cross-border arms smuggling operation, marking a significant breakthrough in the city’s ongoing crackdown on organized crime.

During a targeted operation, law enforcement officials arrested three suspects identified as Mangal Singh (alias Manga), Pranav Sharma (alias Laddu), and Gaurav Rana.

Upon their apprehension, police recovered six sophisticated pistols from their possession.Initial inquiries suggest that the network was highly organized, with the suspects allegedly using various social media platforms to coordinate with Pakistan-based smugglers.

These international contacts reportedly facilitated the trafficking of illegal weaponry across the border, which the arrested individuals then distributed to various criminal elements throughout Punjab. A formal case has been registered at the Cantonment Police Station in Amritsar.

Authorities are currently conducting a deeper investigation to map out both the supply chain and the end-users, with the ultimate goal of completely dismantling the network’s infrastructure.
