RAMBAN, J&K — January 17, 2026
In a significant move to strengthen the lifelong bond between serving soldiers and the retired community, the Indian Army’s Delta Force organized a comprehensive Veterans Meet at Maitra in the Ramban District.
Held as part of the nationwide Veterans Day celebrations, the event served as a dedicated platform to address the welfare and well-being of over 200 Veterans, Veernaris (war widows), and Veeranganas. The gathering, which included many families, underscored the Army’s unwavering commitment to those who have served the nation, highlighting a seamless collaboration between military and civil administrations.
The event was graced by Maj Gen APS Bal, SM, GOC, Delta Force, who interacted personally with the attendees. During his address, the GOC emphasized that a “Soldier’s Dharma” transcends active service, remains a vital pillar in nation-building, and guarantees lifelong support for families.
The meet functioned as both a reunion and a tactical welfare hub, featuring specialized stalls designed to provide immediate assistance. Medical camps staffed by Army and District Hospital doctors offered check-ups and eye exams, while major financial institutions like SBI, ICICI, and J&K Bank provided expert guidance on post-retirement benefits and Defence Service Package accounts.
Beyond immediate health and finance, the initiative focused on long-term grievance redressal and empowerment. Representatives from the Ramban District Administration, Social Welfare Department, and NRLM/UMEED were present to help veterans navigate government schemes and employment opportunities.
Technical support for modern systems like SPARSH and ECHS ensured that pension and healthcare issues were resolved transparently. By prioritizing the dignity of Veer Naris and fostering a spirit of community, the Indian Army reaffirmed its #WeCare ethos, proving that the duty to protect and care for its own remains an eternal commitment.
