J&K Govt Appoints Nodal Officer to Ensure Safety of Students and Residents in Iran

SRINAGAR, January 15, 2026: In response to the evolving situation in Iran, the Government of Jammu & Kashmir has taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents and students currently staying in the country.

According to an official order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), Anil Sharma (JKAS), the Additional Resident Commissioner in New Delhi, has been designated as the Nodal Officer for coordination and liaison.

This appointment aims to streamline communication between the UT administration, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and the Indian Embassy or Consular authorities in Iran.The nominated officer is tasked with facilitating information sharing and managing necessary interventions regarding the welfare, travel facilitation, and safety of J&K locals.

To provide immediate assistance to worried families within the Union Territory, the government has also activated dedicated communication channels. Concerned family members can seek support and updates through the CM Helpline at 1800-8900-166 or via the alternative contact number 0094-2501955.

The administration remains committed to providing all necessary documentation and advisory support to its citizens abroad during this period.
