Amritsar Police Bust Cross Border Arms Smuggling Network and Arrest Four Suspects with Ten Pistols
AMRITSAR, June 27, 2026 — In a major breakthrough, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police successfully dismantled a cross-border illegal arms smuggling network by apprehending four accused individuals and recovering 10 sophisticated pistols alongside nine live cartridges.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested suspects were operating under the direct instructions of a foreign-based smuggler, receiving illegal weapon consignments smuggled through international cross-border routes to supply various criminal elements.
First Information Reports have been formally registered at the Chheharta and Maqboolpura police stations in Amritsar as law enforcement officials continue their operations.
A detailed further investigation is currently underway to establish both backward and forward linkages, with teams working to identify other associates involved in the illegal arms supply chain.
The Punjab Police remains firmly committed to maintaining a strict zero-tolerance policy against illegal weapon smuggling, organized crime, and cross-border criminal networks to ensure regional safety.
