NHM Jammu and Kashmir Hits Major Healthcare Milestones in 2025: Over 1.6 Crore People Screened
Jammu | December 31, 2025The National Health Mission (NHM) Jammu and Kashmir has reported a year of transformative progress in 2025, significantly elevating public health standards through massive screening drives and infrastructure expansion.
A standout achievement includes the screening of 1.61 crore individuals for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), such as hypertension, diabetes, and various cancers, resulting in 7.5 lakh patients being initiated on life-saving treatments.
Under the PM TB Mukt Abhiyan, the mission also reached a critical milestone by screening 25 lakh people for tuberculosis, reinforcing the region’s commitment to disease elimination and early intervention.
Infrastructure and specialized services saw a major boost under the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM), with the completion of six 50-bedded Critical Care Blocks. NHM’s focus on mental health and remote accessibility also yielded impressive results, as the Tele-MANAS programme conducted 1.37 lakh tele-consultations, specifically targeting the mental well-being of the youth.
Additionally, the e-Sanjeevani platform facilitated 4.06 lakh consultations, bridging the healthcare gap for residents in remote and border areas who previously faced significant barriers to accessing specialist medical advice. The mission’s commitment to quality and child health was further evidenced by the screening of 27.27 lakh children and adolescents through the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) in schools and Anganwadi centers.
To ensure standardized excellence in patient care, 244 health facilities across the Union Territory have successfully qualified for National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), with another 1,000 facilities currently undergoing the certification process.
These coordinated efforts in 2025 underscore NHM’s role in creating a resilient, integrated, and high-quality healthcare ecosystem for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
