Srinagar Police demolish illegal home of habitual drug peddler in Noorbagh
SRINAGAR, MAY 4:- In a significant move under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police demolished an illegal residential structure belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the Palpora Noorbagh area today.
The accused, Mohammad Irfan Sheikh, also known as Iff, is a known narcotics offender with several cases registered against him under the NDPS Act at Safakadal and Sangam police stations. Investigations confirmed that the structure was built illegally on land acquired and developed using financial proceeds generated directly from the illicit drug trade.
The demolition was executed following a thorough legal process and coordination with revenue authorities after it was established that the construction lacked any lawful authority and violated revenue laws.
Authorities noted that several family members and close associates of the accused are also reportedly involved in various narcotics cases across the region, suggesting a broader criminal network.
By dismantling the property, the police aim to send a stern message that assets gained through drug trafficking will not be spared.
Law enforcement reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics and urged the public to continue supporting efforts to eliminate the drug menace from society.
