Speaker Announces ₹9.3 Cr Boost for Drygam Shrine Beautification and Shaliganga Bridge in Budgam

BUDGAM, JULY 20 (2026): Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather today announced a major developmental package worth over ₹9.3 crore during his visit to the historic Drygam Shrine, a highly revered site associated with Hazrat Alamdar Sheikh Noor Din Noorani (RA). To enhance facilities for devotees and preserve the shrine’s rich religious and historical significance, Rather revealed that ₹81 lakh has been officially sanctioned for ongoing beautification and development works. In a massive boost to local infrastructure and regional connectivity, the Speaker also announced an allocation of ₹8.50 crore for the construction of a new bridge over Nallah Shaliganga at Reswani Tilwandagi Drygam, directing administrative officials to immediately prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to ensure a time-bound execution of the project.

Addressing a local gathering, Speaker Rather expressed his deep concern over the historical neglect of the area despite its immense cultural importance, questioning why such a significant region had remained overlooked for so long. He reassured the local residents of his unwavering commitment to accelerating comprehensive development across the constituency and addressing public grievances in a phased manner. During his tour, the Speaker also inspected the ongoing developmental works at the revered Ziyarat of legendary Sufi poet Samad Mir at Nambalhar, where a ₹1.20 crore project is currently underway. Emphasizing the need to protect the region’s unique spiritual heritage, Rather strictly instructed the concerned officers to expedite the construction pace and meet strict quality standards within the stipulated timeframe.
