J&K Floods: LG Manoj Sinha Assesses Heavy Rain Damage, Deploys Emergency Teams Across Vulnerable Districts

SRINAGAR JULY 20 : In the wake of devastating flash floods, torrential rains, and landslides wreaking havoc across Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha held a high-level review meeting with senior officials today to assess the ground situation and orchestrate emergency relief operations. Expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of two lives in the Doda district, the Lieutenant Governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of full state support during this crisis. To mitigate further risks, a massive multi-agency response has been activated, with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Indian Army deployed on high alert across all vulnerable zones to conduct rescue and monitoring operations.

The administrative machinery has intensified infrastructure restoration work on war footing. Critical highway stretches and key connectivity roads that were severely blocked in Poonch, Rajouri, Reasi, and Udhampur districts have been successfully reopened for vehicular movement, throwing a lifeline to cut-off regions. Concurrently, technical teams are working around the clock to restore disrupted drinking water supplies in several affected pockets. Transitioning from immediate rescue to recovery, LG Manoj Sinha has issued strict directives to ground-level field teams to urgently evaluate the structural damage caused to private residential houses and public infrastructure, ensuring that administrative relief and compensation reach the affected citizens without delay.
