Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026: Chief Secretary Reviews CAPF Upgrades for Pilgrim Facilities

SRINAGAR, JULY 20, 2026 — Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level review meeting to assess and expedite the implementation of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) recommendations aimed at upgrading facilities for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY). Based on extensive ground assessments conducted by CAPF teams across camps from Lakhanpur to the Holy Cave Shrine, the meeting brought together senior officials from the Civil Administration, Police, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), Border Roads Organisation (BRO), and various district administrations. During the session, SASB CEO Dr. Mandeep K. Bhandari presented the detailed CAPF reports, prompting respective Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Commissioners to outline their current progress and strict timelines for the remaining work.

The comprehensive recommendations target a wide spectrum of critical interventions designed to elevate pilgrim safety, comfort, and overall Yatra management. Key focus areas include upgrading accommodation and basic amenities at base and transit camps, maximizing hygiene and sanitation at community kitchens (langars) and washrooms, and improving drainage and tent waterproofing. To bolster disaster preparedness, the Chief Secretary emphasized strict fire safety protocols, including safe electrical wiring and robust power and water backups. Additionally, the directives call for streamlined traffic regulation, augmented parking, better queue management to prevent overcrowding, and the construction of additional rain shelters along vulnerable stretches of the route. Stressing that devotee well-being is the government’s topmost priority, Dulloo ordered all departments to maintain seamless coordination and swiftly resolve any operational shortcomings to ensure a safe, seamless, and hassle-free pilgrimage experience.
