Doda Highway Landslide: 2 Killed, Several Injured by Shooting Stones at Raggi Nallah
DODA, July 20, 2026: At least two people were killed and several others sustained injuries on Monday after a barrage of shooting stones and mudslides struck a passenger bus and multiple other vehicles at Raggi Nallah along the National Highway (NH-244) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district. According to local officials, the tragedy occurred amid relentless shooting stones and severe mudslides in the area. The highway has been completely closed to traffic due to the ongoing debris accumulation. While restoration work is actively underway, authorities have warned that clearing the route will take some time before it can be safely reopened. The identities of the deceased and the injured are still being ascertained by local administration.
Following the incident, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed he has been in direct contact with District Commissioner Doda, Krishan Lal, to coordinate rescue operations. Dr. Singh expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved families and provided an update on the emergency response, noting that three critically injured individuals have been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur, while others are receiving medical assistance at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Assar. Emergency rescue teams are currently on-site clearing the debris, and commuters have been strictly advised to avoid traveling on the Batote-Doda-Kishtwar highway until the road is declared fully safe for vehicular movement.
