J&K Flood Crisis: LoP Sunil Sharma Inspects Poonch and Rajouri Damage, Promises Central Aid
POONCH/RAJOURI, July 20, 2026: Leading a high-level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Sunil Sharma, conducted an extensive assessment of the flood-devastated regions across Poonch and Rajouri districts today.
Accompanied by prominent leaders including Ravinder Raina, Sham Lal Sharma (MLA), Shehnaz Ganie, Gopal Mahajan, Mohan Lal (MLA), and Zorawar Singh, Sharma directly interacted with the displaced and impacted families to evaluate the ground reality of the disaster. During the visit, he voiced deep concern over the severe hardships confronting the local population and instructed the district administration to expedite rescue operations, accelerate the distribution of immediate relief, restore disrupted essential services, and execute a robust rehabilitation plan.
Furthermore, Sharma assured the residents that a comprehensive damage assessment report detailing the full extent of the structural and financial losses would be swiftly submitted to the Central Government. Reaffirming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration remains committed to supporting the region during crises, the delegation pledged to maintain rigorous coordination with all relief agencies to ensure that the recovery and rehabilitation of Poonch and Rajouri remain a top priority.
