SKUAST-K Scientist Syed Mudasir Andrabi Awarded JC Bose Fellowship

SRINAGAR, July 27 — Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir earned national acclaim as senior scientist Syed Mudasir Andrabi was awarded the prestigious JC Bose Fellowship for his work in biotechnology, technological innovation, and translational research.

Syed Mudasir Andrabi, who serves as Professor and Head of the Division of Animal Biotechnology at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, received the honor in recognition of his scientific leadership and sustained contributions to advancing science and technology in India.An internationally recognized researcher, Syed Mudasir Andrabi has led extensive research spanning molecular diagnostics, vaccine development, bioengineering, and regenerative medicine.

He currently leads major projects funded by top national agencies like the Anusandhan National Research Foundation, Department of Biotechnology, and Indian Council of Medical Research, focusing on critical areas such as gene editing, antimicrobial resistance, and One Health initiatives. His notable innovations include recombinant vaccines, specialized diagnostic kits, digital PCR platforms, and advanced burn recovery bandages, supported by 13 granted patents, including two in the United States.

Vice-Chancellor Nazir Ahmad Ganai congratulated Syed Mudasir Andrabi on the achievement, stating that the fellowship highlights the growing reputation of SKUAST-K in frontier research. The university celebrated the national honor as a landmark milestone for both the institution and Jammu and Kashmir, noting that it reinforces the university’s role as a regional hub for high-impact translational research and technology development.
