Samba Police Crack Supwal Assault Case in Days; Main Conspirator Among Two Arrested

SAMBA, JULY 29 — The Samba Police achieved a major breakthrough by solving a violent assault case within days, apprehending two key accused, including the main conspirator, involved in a brutal attack on a local youth in Supwal.

According to police sources, the case originated on July 25, 2026, when an FIR (No. 219/2026) was registered at Police Station Samba following a complaint by Mani Ram Sharma. The complainant reported that on the night of July 24, at approximately 9:15 PM, his elder son, Chandan Sharma, was intercepted near the backside of Panchayat Ghar in Supwal by unidentified assailants and severely beaten with lathis and sticks, sustaining critical head and ear injuries. Following a meticulous investigation by the Police Post Supwal team—utilizing CCTV analysis, technical tracking, and human intelligence—officers executed a strategic raid and arrested two individuals: the prime conspirator, Rohit Sharma (alias Songi) of Supwal, who allegedly hired the attackers, and one of the primary assailants, Jatin Bhagat (alias Gully) of Ramgarh. During interrogation, Rohit Sharma’s disclosures led authorities to invoke Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), while Section 304(2) BNS was added following the victim’s statement regarding cash snatching during the assault. Investigations have identified two additional absconding suspects, including Rahul (alias Nago), and a widespread manhunt remains underway to apprehend the remaining perpetrators.
