SRINAGAR, JULY 10: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal base camp to review the ongoing arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra.

During his visit, he inspected the base camp hospital, on-spot registration counters, tents, and various other facilities. He directed all line departments to ensure seamless inter-departmental synergy to provide a hassle-free and memorable pilgrimage experience, emphasizing that the comfort of the devotees must remain the highest priority across all stages of the journey.

The Lieutenant Governor stated that the Amarnath Yatra is not only transforming the spiritual lives of devotees but also uplifting the local economy of Jammu and Kashmir. He interacted with service providers, sanitation workers, doctors, and volunteers, praising their spirit of selfless service.

He noted that the larger crowds this year are bringing new opportunities and positive economic change for local traders and service providers, while calling the pilgrimage a living symbol of an aspirational Jammu and Kashmir.

To ensure the safety and fair treatment of pilgrims, Manoj Sinha directed authorities to take strict legal action against anyone involved in overcharging or executing fraudulent registrations, emphasizing that no exceptions should be made. He also ordered a comprehensive audit of all sanitation arrangements and mandated an uninterrupted water supply.

Concerned officers briefed him on security, healthcare, and accommodation updates, noting that the number of reverse osmosis water installations along the track has been increased.

During a media briefing, the Lieutenant Governor shared that around 1,70,000 pilgrims had paid obeisance at the holy cave by the eighth day of the yatra. He highlighted that fully operational 100-bed hospitals at Baltal and Chandanwari are handling over 1,300 daily patients to safeguard health.

He appealed to all pilgrims to adhere to the established guidelines and mentioned that the administration has successfully accommodated a significant number of unregistered arrivals through the necessary protocols.
