Reasi Police arrests drug peddler and recovers heroin in Katra under Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan

REASI, May 17 — Continuing its firm action against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, the Reasi Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering heroin from his possession.

During a routine checking operation conducted by the police party of PCP Sool at the Kakryal Police Post, a suspect identified as Tony Kumar, a resident of Kotla, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi, was stopped for inspection.

Upon conducting a thorough search, the police team recovered 5.6 grams of heroin from his possession, leading to the immediate custody of the accused and the legal seizure of the contraband.

Following the recovery, a criminal case under FIR Number 150/2026 has been registered under sections 8, 21, and 22 of the NDPS Act at the Katra Police Station, and a further investigation into the supply chain is currently underway.

The entire enforcement operation was carried out by the In-Charge of Police Post Kakryal, PSI Akhilesh Khajuria, and SHO Police Station Katra, Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey, and SP Katra, Kameshwar Puri.

Under the administrative guidance of SSP Reasi Mukund Tibrewal, the Reasi Police reaffirmed their strict commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and appealed to the general public, especially the youth, to stay away from narcotics and support law enforcement in making the region drug-free.
