REASI, July 14, 2026 — Commandant of the State Disaster Response Force Second Battalion Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Aslam conducted an extensive tour of Reasi district today to assess infrastructure expansion plans and evaluate operational preparedness.
Accompanied by Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinesh Gupta, Deputy Superintendent of Police DAR Reasi Sarbjeet Singh, and other senior officials, the Commandant inspected identified state land proposed for the new battalion headquarters. The team also examined a separate site earmarked for the construction of a permanent building for the Reasi SDRF component to strengthen disaster response capabilities in the region.
During the visit, Aslam interacted with the deployed personnel to review operational readiness, check resource availability, and address welfare grievances. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a high state of alertness, professionalism, and dedication to public service, assuring the team that their workplace concerns would be resolved on priority.
The Commandant also briefed the deployment on the execution of a critical Monsoon Safety Advisory aimed at protecting local residents and visiting pilgrims from weather-related hazards during the ongoing rainy season. The public safety advisory strictly warns citizens against approaching or entering rivers, streams, waterfalls, and other water bodies during or immediately after rainfall. Commuters are advised never to attempt crossing overflowing bridges, flooded roads, or fast-flowing streams due to the high risk of sudden surges and bank erosion.
The administration emphasized keeping children away from water bodies and avoiding activities like swimming or taking selfies near rivers, urging everyone to rely solely on official updates from the India Meteorological Department and district authorities rather than spreading rumors. The advisory also outlines specific instructions for pilgrims, urging them to stick to designated travel routes, restrict unnecessary movement near vulnerable areas, and cooperate fully with emergency responders.
Residents in landslide-prone or low-lying areas are encouraged to evacuate promptly if advised by rescue teams. The department highlighted that any emergency situation, rising water level, or distress should be reported immediately to the nearest police or disaster management authorities to ensure rapid emergency intervention.
