Poonch Administration Crackdown on Absenteeism as 172 Government Employees Face Salary Withholding
POONCH, April 18, 2026:-In a major move to enforce administrative discipline and public accountability, the Deputy Commissioner of Poonch ordered a district-wide series of surprise inspections across various government offices today.
Dedicated teams carried out simultaneous visits covering the District Headquarters and several other blocks to monitor employee attendance and punctuality. During the operation, 172 government employees were found absent from their duties without any prior authorization or valid justification.
As an immediate consequence, show-cause notices have been issued to the absentee staff, requiring them to explain their unauthorized absence before formal disciplinary proceedings are initiated.
Furthermore, the administration has issued strict instructions to all concerned Drawing and Disbursing Officers to withhold the salaries of the identified employees until further notice.
The Deputy Commissioner reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy regarding negligence and absenteeism, emphasizing that every public servant is expected to maintain strict adherence to office hours and professional conduct.
These inspections are part of a broader effort to ensure seamless public service delivery and to foster a culture of transparency and responsibility within the district’s administrative departments.
