MVD Kishtwar Crackdown Results in Suspension of 43 Route Permits and 203 Registration Certificates
KISHTWAR, April 18, 2026:-In a major enforcement drive against persistent traffic violations, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) Kishtwar, under the direction of Assistant Regional Transport Officer Tasleem Wani, has ordered the suspension of Registration Certificates and Route Permits for 246 habitual offenders.
The action targets 193 private vehicles, including 171 two-wheelers and 22 cars, alongside 53 commercial vehicles. In total, 203 Registration Certificates and 43 Route Permits have been suspended, while 66 vehicles have been officially blacklisted.
This move follows a directive from the Transport Commissioner and Traffic Police identifying individuals who have been booked more than five times for various offenses under the Motor Vehicles Act, in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines.
The documented violations involve a range of serious safety breaches, such as riding without helmets, failing to use seat belts, overloading, speeding, driving under the influence, and using mobile phones while operating a vehicle.
According to the official order issued on April 17, 2026, the suspensions will remain in effect for three months, during which time these vehicles are strictly prohibited from plying on the roads.
Owners have been instructed to surrender their original documents to the ARTO office immediately. To ensure compliance, the department has requested the District and Traffic Police to seize any of these vehicles if they are found operating during the suspension period, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to road safety and strict legal adherence.
