NIA takes custody of five Lashkar terrorists in interstate module case
JAMMU, APRIL 27: The National Investigation Agency has officially taken over the investigation into a recently uncovered interstate Lashkar-e-Taiba terror module.
On Monday, the agency secured the remand of five arrested terrorists, including two Pakistani nationals, following their production before a special NIA court in Jammu.
This move follows a significant operation by the Jammu and Kashmir police and central agencies earlier this month. The module was initially dismantled on April 7 with the arrest of five operatives, including a long-time fugitive identified as Abdullah, also known as Abu Hureira.
Abdullah had reportedly been on the run for 16 years and had successfully established terror bases outside the union territory. The other arrested individuals include a second Pakistani national, Usman, and three residents of Srinagar identified as Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, Adil Rashid, and Ghulam Mohammad Mir.Investigations have revealed a deep-rooted network dedicated to providing logistics and financial support to terrorist activities.
Following the court proceedings, the two Pakistani nationals were granted a two-day remand, while the three local operatives were sent to 15-day custody. The agency aims to use this period to conduct detailed questioning to further dismantle the network’s operations and support systems.
