Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Sees Off Inaugural Batch of Haj Pilgrims from Srinagar International Airport

SRINAGAR, April 18, 2026:-Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited the Srinagar International Airport to see off the first batch of Haj pilgrims, marking the official start of the 2026 Haj operations from Jammu & Kashmir.

During his interaction with the departing pilgrims, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt greetings and shared his wishes for a safe, peaceful, and spiritually enriching journey.

He expressed his hope that this sacred pilgrimage would further strengthen the bonds of unity and compassion within society, while praying for the lasting peace, harmony, and overall well-being of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

The commencement of this year’s pilgrimage involved three scheduled flights carrying 431 pilgrims on the opening day. This marks the beginning of a larger transport plan consisting of 28 flights set to operate through May 5, 2026, to accommodate the 4,706 pilgrims registered from the region.

The Chief Minister was joined at the airport by Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani, the Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir, and various senior civil and police officials, who together ensured that all administrative and logistical arrangements were in place to facilitate a smooth departure for the pilgrims.
