Minga Sherpa Reviews Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Progress in Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, May 2, 2026—Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa chaired a high-level meeting today with officials from various line departments to evaluate the progress of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan campaign within the district.

During the session, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a comprehensive review of Information, Education, and Communication activities. He emphasized the necessity of intensifying awareness drives at the grassroots level, specifically focusing on reaching youth, students, and other vulnerable groups to prevent substance abuse.

To strengthen the campaign’s reach, the Deputy Commissioner directed departments to prioritize capacity building by training ASHA and Anganwadi workers. He further instructed that at least one teacher in every government school and college, as well as staff in health institutions, should receive basic training to identify and address drug-related issues.

By upgrading the skills of counselors and educators, the administration aims to create a robust support system for students and residents throughout the district.The meeting also highlighted the need for increased vigilance and stronger reporting mechanisms to identify and stop drug peddling activities.

Minga Sherpa called for closer collaboration between educational institutions, civil society organizations, and community leaders to ensure anti-drug messages are disseminated effectively.

To engage the younger generation positively, he suggested organizing inter-school competitions and other outreach initiatives, reiterating that a collective effort is essential to achieving a drug-free society in Udhampur.
