Doda Transport Authority Suspends Hundreds of Permits and Registrations for Traffic Violations

DODA, May 2, 2026—The Assistant Regional Transport Officer in Doda has taken decisive action against habitual traffic offenders by suspending 31 vehicle permits and 577 registration certificates. The affected vehicles were identified through the VAHAN portal for accumulating multiple pending challans and recurring violations under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Officials noted that these continuous infractions represent a significant threat to public safety and demonstrate a consistent disregard for established traffic laws.

According to the orders issued by the transport authority, the suspensions will remain in effect for three months or until all outstanding fines are settled and legal requirements are met.

The department exercised its powers under Section 86 of the Motor Vehicles Act to enforce these penalties, aiming to curb dangerous driving behaviors.

Vehicle owners and operators have been instructed to immediately clear their records to avoid further legal consequences and to ensure they remain in compliance with regional transport regulations.

The enforcement drive is part of a broader commitment by the Doda administration to improve road safety throughout the district. Moving forward, the department plans to intensify on-road checking and surprise inspections in close coordination with the traffic police.

By targeting repeat violators and ensuring the settlement of pending penalties, authorities aim to promote more responsible driving practices and reduce the risk of accidents on public roads.
