Anil Gupta Inspects Fertilizer Availability and Modern Farming Units in Billawar
JAMMU, May 2, 2026—Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta conducted an extensive field visit to the Billawar Subdivision of Kathua district to assess the availability of fertilizers and review ongoing agricultural interventions.
Accompanied by a team of senior officers, Gupta performed surprise inspections of local input dealers, including the Gupta Multipurpose Fertilizer Store in Ramkot. During these checks, he verified the quality and stock levels of essential agricultural inputs while ensuring that all dealers were adhering to government regulations and prescribed norms.
The Director issued firm instructions to field functionaries and dealers to ensure transparency and prevent any unnecessary stocking or misuse of fertilizers. He emphasized that rate lists and stock records must be prominently displayed and warned that any lapses in record maintenance would result in strict legal action.
Gupta also encouraged the farming community to adopt integrated nutrient management practices and emphasized the department’s commitment to providing timely, high-quality inputs to support the region’s agricultural productivity.
Beyond input inspections, the visit included reviews of modern farming initiatives such as a vermicompost unit at Narshing Ghoshalla and a hi-tech polyhouse in Khoon.
Gupta praised the adoption of protected cultivation for high-value crops and directed department officials to maintain close coordination with local farmers. The visit concluded with a comprehensive review of departmental schemes, with a focus on ensuring that agricultural services and modern technologies are effectively delivered at the grassroots level to benefit the farming sector.
