Kupwara police attach property of drug peddler under NDPS act
Kupwara, April 30: J&K Police intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking by attaching a residential property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in Kupwara as part of the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan.
The accused, Abdul Majeed Munshi, also known as Pandit, a resident of Gulgam, was previously linked to a drug-related case registered at the Kupwara Police Station. The action follows a sustained effort to target the financial proceeds generated through the illegal narcotics trade in the region.
The investigation conducted under the NDPS Act revealed that the accused had accumulated assets far exceeding his legal sources of income.
Authorities established that the residential house in Gulgam, valued at approximately 19.40 lakh, was acquired through funds derived from drug trafficking. Consequently, the property was attached under the legal provisions of Section 68F of the NDPS Act after a preliminary inquiry confirmed its origin from criminal activities.
Police officials stated that this move is part of a broader commitment to eradicate the drug menace from the district. They issued a stern warning that strict legal measures, including the seizure and attachment of properties acquired through illegal means, will continue against anyone involved in the narcotics trade.
The department remains focused on dismantling the financial networks of drug traffickers to ensure a drug-free society.
