KPDCL Announces Scheduled Power Shutdowns Across Kashmir Districts

SRINAGAR, May 2, 2026—The Chief Engineer of Distribution at KPDCL has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns to facilitate essential maintenance and technical works across various regions.

Residents in Shamsipora, Sudsanoo, Turka, Tachloo, and surrounding areas will experience outages from 10 AM to 3 PM on May 4 and May 6 due to a shutdown of the 33 KV Shamsipora Tapline. Additionally, work on the 132/33 KV GIS Khanyar will affect power supply in Nowshera, Raja Colony, Industrial Estate BAMK, Zadibal, Hawal, Botakadal, and near the Rainawari Psychiatric Hospital and Central Jail from 9 AM to 4 PM on the same dates.

Further maintenance on the 33 KV KP Bagh and Exhibition lines is scheduled for May 5, 11, and 14. These works will impact electricity supply in KP Bagh, Soiteng, Kursoo Rajbagh, Gogjibagh, Jawahar Nagar, Mehjoor Nagar, Rambagh, and Old Barzullah between 10 AM and 3 PM.

The shutdowns are intended to ensure the long-term reliability of the distribution network in these densely populated residential and commercial hubs.In another part of the valley, the 33 KV Nehalpora Markundal and Nihalpora HMT lines will be shut down on May 5 from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

This will result in temporary power interruptions for Markundal, Naidkhai, Sumbal, Shadipora, Trigam, Mirgund, Singhpora, HMT, SKUAST, and SSM College. KPDCL has urged consumers to plan accordingly and has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by these necessary infrastructural improvements.
