Kishtwar cloudburst incidents report no casualties as rescue teams deployed Says Dr Singh

KISHTWAR, June 2, 2026 :- Panic gripped residents of the Kishtwar region today after two separate cloudburst incidents triggered sudden flash floods.

The natural disaster occurred simultaneously in the Gahan area of Sarthal and the Machipal locality.

Immediately following the incident, Union Minister Jitendra Singh contacted Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Sharma to assess the situation and ensure that regional emergency teams were deployed to the affected zones.

According to immediate field evaluations provided by Additional Deputy Commissioner Pawan Kotwal, the twin cloudbursts have fortunately caused no casualties, injuries, or significant damage to property.

Emergency response teams from the District Red Cross, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Revenue Department have been dispatched to the affected mountain terrains to review the aftermath and assist local communities.

The intense rainfall and flooding have resulted in extensive mudslides, causing significant road blockades and disrupting local connectivity across nearly three dozen routes, including key highways.

The district administration has deployed heavy machinery and personnel to clear the massive debris and restore vehicular traffic at the earliest.In response to the flash floods, the local administration has heightened monitoring protocols and issued alerts across the district.

Officials from the Disaster Management, Revenue, and Police departments remain on high alert and are maintaining active surveillance of vulnerable and low-lying zones. Dedicated field staff and mobile patrols are keeping consistent contact with local residents to manage any further weather developments, while the union minister’s office continues to track the relief efforts.
