JAMMU, India — July 10, 2026 — The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (J&K BOSE) has successfully conducted the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship (NMMSS) 2025-26 examination, registering a massive turnout across the union territory. Out of 6,644 initially enrolled candidates, a total of 6,000 students officially appeared for the test, marking an impressive overall attendance rate of 90.30%. This prestigious examination is held under a Centrally Sponsored Scheme of the Government of India, specifically designed to identify and financially support meritorious students from economically weaker sections who are currently studying in government and government-aided schools.
The high-stakes examination was executed smoothly under the comprehensive supervision, guidance, and support of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, Chairman-cum-Secretary of JKBOSE. Dr. Parveen Singh, Director Academics and Liaison Officer for NMMSS, effectively coordinated the entire process alongside the dedicated officers and officials of the board’s Academics Division. To ensure the integrity of the process, JKBOSE extended its deep appreciation to the Chief Education Officers—who acted as District Nodal Officers—as well as the Center Superintendents, Deputy Center Superintendents, invigilators, and inspection teams for maintaining a transparent, fair, and orderly environment throughout the UT.
Expressing gratitude to all involved stakeholders for their facilitation, the Board reiterated its steadfast commitment to ensuring absolute transparency, fairness, and excellence in the ongoing implementation of the National Merit-cum-Means Scholarship Scheme. As evaluation begins, J&K BOSE has extended its best wishes to all the participating candidates aiming to secure this life-changing academic scholarship.
