Crackdown on Illegal Businesses: Municipal Council Kishtwar Seals Third Unauthorized Car Washing Centre

KISHTWAR, India — July 10, 2026 — In a major push to eliminate illegal and unauthorized commercial establishments, the Municipal Council (MC) Kishtwar has sealed a car washing service center located near the Bus Stand in Ward No. 12. Executed under the direct guidance of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma, and supervised by MC Chief Executive Officer Mirza Mumtaz Iqbal, the operation targets businesses operating without the necessary legal permissions. The enforcement team carried out the closure under the Jammu and Kashmir Control of Building Operations Act and the J&K Municipal Act, with an Executive Magistrate 1st Class present, after discovering the facility lacked a valid trade license and required clearances from vital departments, including the Pollution Control board, Jal Shakti, and the Power Development Department (PDD).

This latest action marks the third car washing establishment shut down in the town over recent weeks as local authorities intensify their crackdown on non-compliant businesses. Prior to this enforcement, the Municipal Council had already sealed two other prominent service stations: Shahan Service Station in Ward No. 12 (Faisalabad) and Wheelzin Service Station located along Om Mehta Road in Ward No. 10.

Reiterating its stance on municipal compliance, the Municipal Council Kishtwar warned that stringent actions will continue against any establishment violating urban regulations. Furthermore, authorities issued a stern warning that any unauthorized attempt to break the official seals or reopen the shuttered premises will face immediate legal consequences, including the registration of a First Information Report (FIR).
