Monsoon Preparedness: SDM Mahore Convenes High-Level Meeting to Ensure Infrastructure and Emergency Readiness

MAHORE, July 10, 2026 — Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mahore, Shafqat Majeed Bhat, convened a comprehensive meeting today with officials from various departments to review available resources and guarantee robust preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season. Given the region’s vulnerability to heavy rainfall, the high-level meeting focused on establishing a proactive response strategy to mitigate infrastructure disruptions and protect public safety.

A primary focus of the meeting was the timely restoration of roads, as the Mahore area is highly prone to landslides during intense downpours. To ensure the uninterrupted movement of traffic, the SDM issued strict directions to officials from the General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), Public Works Department (PWD), and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to station a sufficient number of clearance machines at strategic locations for immediate deployment. Additionally, officials from the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDCL) and the Jal Shakti Department were instructed to maintain an uninterrupted supply of electricity and drinking water, with explicit orders to restore any weather-induced service damages promptly.

To manage potential health and supply emergencies, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mahore was directed to keep medical teams and ambulances fully equipped and ready for instant deployment. Simultaneously, Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs) for Mahore and Chasana were tasked with securing an adequate stockpile of essential commodities, including food grains, LPG, fuel, and other vital consumables. To streamline these efforts, SDM Bhat announced the establishment of 24×7 control rooms at the SDM Office, Tehsildar Offices, and local Police Stations. The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to coordination, attended by key administrators including the Tehsildar Mahore, Tehsildar Chasana, SDPO Mahore, BMO Mahore, OIC GREF, and representatives from the PWD, PMGSY, JKPDCL, Jal Shakti, and the Rural Development Department (RDD).
