Illegal house built on forest land demolished during drug probe in Udhampur
CHENANI, May 16, 2026 :- Udhampur Police demolished an illegally constructed residential house built on forest and wildlife land in Chenani during an ongoing investigation under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The property was linked to an accused individual, Mohd Imran Khan, a resident of Kossar, Tehsil Chenani, who is currently under investigation following the registration of a drug-related case at the Chenani Police Station.
During an assessment of the assets belonging to the accused, authorities discovered that he had encroached upon approximately two kanals of forest and wildlife land under Khasra No. 558 and Compartment No. 109 to construct the house.
The police department immediately coordinated with the relevant administrative authorities to address the illegal encroachment.A joint enforcement operation was launched to clear the unauthorized occupation and dismantle the structure on the spot.
The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur Amritpal Singh and SDPO Chenani Sukhvir Singh. The on-ground team was led by Chenani SHO Raghubir Singh alongside a police contingent working in coordination with Wildlife Range Officer Sanjay Abrol, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Chenani, and the Chenani Tehsildar.
Authorities stated that the demolition reflects a strict commitment by the Udhampur Police and district administration to target drug trafficking operations.
Officials emphasized that stringent legal measures will continue against individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, ensuring that any assets generated through illicit means are identified and dismantled.
