DRDO Successfully Tests Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket at Chandipur
NEW DELHI, JULY 08 — The Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a flight-test of the Pinaka Long Range Guided Rocket (LRGR) today at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur. The advanced rocket system was tested for a user-defined minimum range of 60 kilometers. Demonstrating all planned in-flight manoeuvres, the guided rocket followed its predicted trajectory and struck the designated target with textbook precision while being tracked continuously by range instruments throughout its flight.
The Pinaka LRGR rocket was designed and developed by the Armament Research and Development Establishment in collaboration with the High Energy Materials Research Laboratory, with additional support from the Defence Research and Development Laboratory and Research Centre Imarat. Coordinated by the ITR and the Proof & Experimental Establishment, the rocket was fired from an in-service Pinaka launcher. This successful launch highlights the platform’s versatility, proving that the same launcher can deploy various Pinaka variants across different operational ranges.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, the Indian Army, and industrial partners on the achievement, calling the successful test a major milestone for India’s indigenous design and development capabilities in long-range guided rocketry. Defence Secretary and Chairman of DRDO, Rajesh Kumar Singh, who closely monitored the trials, also extended his compliments to all the teams involved in the successful mission.
