Baramulla Police Place Notorious Offender Under Strict Surveillance

BARAMULLA, July 28 — In a preventive measure to maintain public order and deter criminal activities, Baramulla Police opened a history sheet and entered Ashiq Hussain Ganai, also known as Ashiq MLA, into the Surveillance Register under Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules.

The resident of Khawajabagh was designated as a bad character following due legal process, which included issuing a show-cause notice and evaluating his written objections alongside his police record.The competent authority determined that the offender’s repeated involvement in multiple cognizable offences over an extended period warranted continuous preventive monitoring.

As part of the surveillance order, he is restricted from leaving the territorial jurisdiction of Police Station Baramulla without prior written permission from the concerned Station House Officer, with any authorized movement subject to strict verification.Police officials emphasized that the action is aimed purely at crime prevention, effective monitoring of habitual offenders, and safeguarding public interest.

Reaffirming their commitment to upholding the rule of law, Baramulla Police stated they will continue implementing lawful preventive measures to ensure peace and security across the district.
