Assam Rifles, Manipur Police Seize Massive Arms and Military Gear Cache in Kakching Joint Operation
KAKCHING, MANIPUR June 13,2026— In a major breakthrough against local insurgent activities, the Assam Rifles alongside Thoubal Police Commandos successfully intercepted and recovered a massive cache of weapons, ammunition, and tactical military equipment during a joint operation in the Purnaheitupokpi area of Manipur’s Kakching district. Acting on precise intelligence, security forces launched a coordinated sweep that dealt a severe blow to militant elements operating within the region, reinforcing the ongoing commitment to restore peace and stability in the state.
During the targeted operation, security personnel uncovered a diverse assortment of weaponry and specialized gear. The lethal recoveries featured a USA-made .32 pistol complete with four rounds, two Smooth Bore Breech Loading (SBBL) guns, two detonators, a striker spring, and two tear smoke shells. Additionally, a substantial amount of diverse ammunition was seized, including 29 rounds of .303 ammo, 18 SLR rounds, 17 AK-47 rounds, and three INSAS rounds. Alongside the firearms, forces confiscated a bipod and 12 KCP (Kangleipak Communist Party) logo stickers, linking the cache directly to active insurgent propaganda and logistics.
Beyond heavy armaments, the joint team discovered a sophisticated haul of combat and defensive gear meant to outfit an entire militant unit. The recovery included 12 bulletproof plates, two bulletproof fiber plates, a tactical bulletproof jacket, two ballistic helmets, and an MP-5 weapon sling. Furthermore, a massive stockpile of military-grade uniforms was cleared from the site, consisting of 60 combat shirts, 57 pairs of combat pants, two combat jackets, 18 combat caps, 23 combat belts, and eight pairs of combat boots. Following the successful seizure, all recovered weaponry, ammunition, and tactical gear were formally handed over to the Heirok Police Station for detailed investigation and further legal proceedings.
