Kashmir’s Fruit Growers Get Rail Boost: CM Thanks Railways Minister for Parcel Service Extension

Srinagar 11 September :- A significant boost for Kashmir’s horticulture sector, train parcel services have now been successfully extended to the region, a move for which Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has expressed his gratitude to Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Abdullah acknowledged the central government’s support in implementing this crucial connectivity, which promises to revolutionize the transportation of the Valley’s renowned fresh fruits, including apples, to markets across India.

The initiative, actively coordinated by the Horticulture Department with local fruit growers, is expected to ensure faster, more cost-effective, and reliable delivery, thereby reducing spoilage and ensuring better price realization for farmers. This infrastructural leap is seen as a vital step towards strengthening the economic backbone of the region’s agrarian community.
