Indian Army and Rajasthan Police Bust Counterfeit Military Uniform Racket in Sriganganagar

SRIGANGANAGAR, RAJASTHAN AUGUST 01— In a joint intelligence-led operation, the Indian Army and Rajasthan Police have successfully busted a counterfeit military uniform racket, seizing nearly 1,000 metres of unauthorized Army-pattern combat cloth from multiple shops across the Sriganganagar district.

The crackdown stemmed from an earlier seizure of counterfeit combat material in Bareilly in June, which investigators traced back to a manufacturing source in Sriganganagar. Subsequent discreet surveillance by military intelligence identified a local firm acting as a key distributor of unauthorized combat cloth to markets in Sriganganagar, Lalgarh Jattan, Suratgarh, and surrounding areas.

Following an interim report shared with law enforcement in mid-July, a coordinated series of raids was executed on July 30, resulting in the recovery of extensive amounts of the banned uniform material. Authorities emphasized that the unauthorized possession, sale, or use of military-pattern uniforms is a serious punishable offense, as it poses significant security risks by enabling the potential impersonation of armed forces personnel.
