Indian Navy Launches Seventh Anti Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft Machilipatnam in Kochi

Kochi, July 29: Indian Navy marked another major milestone as the seventh indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft was launched at Cochin Shipyard Limited in Kochi. The vessel was launched by Goolrukh Anand in the presence of Additional Secretary of Military Affairs Vice Admiral Atul Anand.

Named Machilipatnam after the historic port city of Andhra Pradesh, the ship honors India’s rich maritime heritage and enduring seafaring traditions.Powered by three waterjets, the vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art underwater sensors, advanced weapons, and mine-laying capabilities. Designed as a potent platform for anti-submarine warfare, the ship will significantly strengthen the defensive capabilities of the Indian Navy in the Indian Ocean Region.

The successful launch highlights the growing momentum of self-reliance in naval defence manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
