Udhampur 09 September :- Heavy rainfall wreaked havoc in Panchayat Garh, causing many families to lose their homes and forcing them to live under the open sky. Some have been taking shelter under trees, enduring numerous hardships just to survive.
The areas of Rajua and Rajund within this panchayat suffered severe damage to houses. Distressed by the destruction and difficulties, the people were desperately hoping for some relief.
Despite several days of continuous rain, no administrative assistance had reached them. Roadways and mobile networks had been completely destroyed. Somehow, the matter reached Pawan Khajuria, an independent candidate from the Udhampur East Assembly constituency, who then visited the area with his team.
He distributed relief materials such as food rations, tarpaulins, notebooks, and books to the affected people. He also spoke with the concerned administrative officials, urging them to take immediate action to address the serious problems faced by the local residents.
On this occasion, a local elderly retired soldier, Mohammad Shafi, announced that he would donate two months of his pension — approximately sixty thousand rupees — for the relief of the rain-affected people.Also present on the occasion were former Sarpanch Omkar Singh, former Sarpanch Rajesh Sharma, retired Principal Balwant Khajuria, Gopal Singh, Keval Dubey, Om Prakash, Zakir Hussain, Rishpal Sharma, Kuldeep Singh, Keval Singh, Prakash Singh, Sahil, and many others.
