From Rescue to Relief: Indian Army rescued over 21,500 Nationwide, Deliver 23.5 Tonnes of Supplies, Aid to 9,700 Amidst Floods
Jammu 08 September :- Since the onset of the monsoon season in April 2025, Army troops have been engaged in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions across 75 locations nationwide.
In a massive and ongoing operation, the Indian Army has mobilised 126 dedicated rescue columns, through which its personnel have successfully evacuated more than 21,500 civilians from flood-affected regions. The relief efforts have extended beyond rescue, with soldiers providing critical medical aid to nearly 9,700 people and air-dropping over 23,500 kilograms of essential supplies to isolated communities.
To restore vital connectivity and ensure the continuity of aid, Army engineers have undertaken significant infrastructure work, constructing 29 temporary bridges—including one impressive 110-foot span—and reinforcing vulnerable bundhs at 12 key locations.
The sheer scale and urgency of the mission are underscored by the extensive use of air assets, with Army helicopters clocking over 500 flying hours, often in perilous weather conditions, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to saving lives amid the devastating monsoon.
