Ladakh Gets Its First Electric Vehicle Charging Stations To Promote Clean Energy
LEH, 10 July 2026: Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated five Electric Vehicle charging stations today, marking a historic milestone in the region’s journey towards clean energy, sustainable mobility, and the protection of its fragile Himalayan ecosystem.
The newly launched infrastructure represents the first of its kind in Ladakh and is strategically located at Main Bus Stand Leh, Tia Rong, Solar Colony, Chuchot Shamma, and Khaltsi.
Equipped with advanced fast-charging technology, these stations enable electric vehicles to charge up to 80% in less than one hour.Aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a carbon-neutral Ladakh, this initiative reflects the administration’s unwavering commitment to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and safeguarding the pristine environment.
Together, these five charging stations will serve as the foundation for a comprehensive electric vehicle charging network across the region, facilitating the growing adoption of green transit options and ensuring long-term ecological protection for Ladakh.
