Shopian Police Debunks Social Media Rumors, Confirms Two Individuals in Custody Under FIR

SHOPIAN, Jammu & Kashmir — July 10, 2026 — The Shopian Police on Friday officially debunked rumors circulating on social media regarding two individuals, labeling the online information as completely “false and misleading.” Authorities moved swiftly to clarify the situation and prevent the further spread of misinformation across digital platforms.
In an official statement released via post on X (formerly Twitter) #FAKENEWSALERT , the district police confirmed that both individuals, along with associate, are currently in law enforcement custody. They were legally arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation under FIR No. 55/2026 registered at the Heerpora Police Station in Shopian.
In light of the incident, the Shopian Police have strongly advised the general public not to believe, engage with, or circulate unverified reports online.
