Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 Begins: DC and SSP Flag Off First Batch from Nunwan Base Camp along Pahalgam Axis

ANANTNAG, JULY 03, 2026 — Amid a wave of jubilance and devotional fervor, the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 officially commenced today from the Pahalgam Axis. The first batch of pilgrims was jointly flagged off in the wee hours of the morning from the Nunwan Base Camp by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag and Yatra Officer, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Amod Ashok Nagpure. The high-profile flag-off ceremony was attended by several key dignitaries, including Camp Director Atul Kumar, SDM Pahalgam, Additional Camp Directors, and various senior officials from the police and line departments, marking a well-coordinated launch to the sacred pilgrimage.

Following the formal send-off from the Nunwan Base Camp, the pilgrims were seamlessly transported to Chandanwari via a specialized vehicular shuttle service organized by the Motor Vehicles (MV) Department. To ensure a comfortable and deeply enriching spiritual experience for the Yatris, the administration has established robust arrangements across all major transit stations, camps, and key locations leading up to the Holy Cave. Comprehensive essential services, advanced safety protocols, and structural track augmentations were planned and meticulously executed well ahead of schedule to guarantee a smooth and secure pilgrimage. Embarking on their highly anticipated spiritual journey, the Yatris expressed immense satisfaction with the overall administrative arrangements and security measures put in place for their welfare.
