Fire and Fury Corps soldiers save critically injured tourists after road accident near Umling La
LEH, July 3, 2026 — Soldiers of the Fire and Fury Corps responded swiftly to a serious road accident involving a motorcyclist and his wife who were travelling from Umling La to Leh.
The incident occurred at an altitude of over 17,000 feet near Chisumle, where the prompt intervention of military personnel proved critical for the victims.A regimental medical officer, a nursing assistant, and fellow soldiers provided immediate life-saving medical care on the spot.
The medical team performed an emergency surgical intervention to stabilize the critically injured rider, ensuring he was fit for transport. Following the stabilization, the patient was promptly evacuated by a service ambulance to the Civil Hospital in Nyoma, reinforcing the enduring bond of care and service between the Indian Army and the people of Ladakh.
