Jammu and Kashmir weather update predicts heavy rainfall and flash flood warning until July 9

SRINAGAR, July 3, 2026:- The Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has issued a weather advisory following significant rainfall across several parts of Jammu and Kashmir. Recent measurements indicate substantial downpours, with Udhampur recording 85 mm of rain, followed by Kathua with 41.5 mm, and Rajpura registering 27 mm, while other stations experienced light to moderate precipitation.

Weather forecasters predict that from July 3 to July 5, many places will experience one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers, primarily during the late afternoon, evening, late night, and early morning hours.

Heavy rainfall, brief intense heavy showers, and thunder are also expected at a few specific places. From July 6 to July 9, the weather is projected to turn generally hot and humid, though one or two spells of light to moderate rain or thundershowers will persist across many areas, alongside brief intense heavy showers or thunder at isolated locations.

Due to the possibility of heavy rainfall and brief intense heavy showers, authorities have issued an advisory warning that these conditions may generate localized flash floods, landslides, and mudslides at vulnerable places.

Residents and travelers are strongly advised to exercise caution and stay away from streams, nallas, and areas prone to landslides or mudslides during this period.
