Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attends capacity building programme for school education in Jammu
JAMMU, July 2, 2026 — Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended a one-day capacity building programme organized by the Bharti Airtel Foundation, the State Council of Educational Research and Training, and the School Education Department today.
The event served as a formal platform for the launch of instructional resources jointly developed by the three institutions, aimed at strengthening the professional capacities of teachers and enriching the overall quality of school education across the Union Territory. Speaking on the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the initiative is a collective pledge rooted in the fundamental truth that empowering teachers inspires confidence in students.
He emphasized that the ultimate purpose of education is transformation and life-building rather than mere exam results, urging schools in Jammu and Kashmir to become laboratories for shaping destiny and character.The one-day capacity-building programme is also closely linked to the broader Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir campaign, aiming to improve teaching methods and protect students from modern challenges such as substance abuse, mental stress, social pressure, and digital risks.
Manoj Sinha noted that education today cannot be restricted to measurable academic achievement alone, making life-skills education, emotional balance, and critical thinking essential components for students to build a healthy society. He commended the National Education Policy under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and praised the Directorate of School Education Jammu for starting online classes for grades 11 and 12 across ten districts, which brings quality learning to remote villages.
During the event, the Lieutenant Governor also felicitated meritorious students and winners of the Tobacco-Free Educational Institution initiative, alongside releasing several books on life skills in the presence of Bharti Airtel Foundation Co-Chairman Rakesh Bharti Mittal, School Education Department Commissioner Secretary Ram Niwas Sharma, and other senior officials.
