Jammu and Kashmir security forces review Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 preparations

SRINAGAR, June 22 — Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat led a high-level security review meeting on Monday to evaluate the current security situation in South Kashmir and assess preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2026 pilgrimage.

The session brought together senior officers from multiple security formations active in South Kashmir, including the Army’s Victor Force, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. Senior Superintendents of Police from the respective districts delivered comprehensive assessments on local counter-insurgency efforts, the current security atmosphere, and logistical arrangements dedicated to the annual pilgrimage.

During the briefing, officials updated the Director General of Police on active anti-terror operations, area domination strategies, and intelligence sharing protocols. They also outlined the multi-tier security framework being deployed along the pilgrimage routes and sensitive locations to protect the traveling pilgrims.

Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat reviewed the overall operational readiness and emphasized the vital need for seamless coordination, intelligence exchange, and joint planning across all forces. He instructed officers to maintain high vigilance and sustain a strong security grid to deter any potential threats.

The police chief reiterated that the safety of the pilgrims is the highest priority, calling for increased surveillance, strategic personnel deployment, and continuous communication among all involved agencies to ensure a peaceful pilgrimage.

He praised the security forces for their ongoing efforts to maintain regional stability and urged continued synchronization throughout the event.
